Cover the table, set good lighting, keep water and a paper towel nearby. Lightly iron the canvas on low (no steam) or tape it flat to a board.
2
Organize paints & match numbers
Open one color at a time to prevent drying. If thick, add a drop of water and mix. Keep lids closed when not in use.
3
Start smart
Work from top-to-bottom (or left-to-right if right-handed) to avoid smudges. Many painters begin with the background or darker areas for easy progress.
4
Use the right brush for the area
Small brush for tiny cells; larger brush for big areas. Glide the tip—don’t press or splay bristles. Cover numbers fully; add a second coat after drying if needed.
5
Rinse & dry between colors
Swirl in water, wipe on a towel until clean, then paint the next color. A barely damp brush gives cleaner edges.
6
Let sections dry
Acrylic dries fast—about 10–20 minutes depending on thickness. Touch up gaps or streaks once dry.
7
Store in-progress work
Close paint pots firmly; wipe rims so they reseal. Keep paints upright and the canvas flat.
8
Finish & frame
After 24 hours, optionally seal with a clear acrylic varnish (matte or gloss). Then frame and enjoy!
Pro tips
If a paint is too thick, add a single drop of water and mix. If too thin, use two light coats.
Mist closed paint pots lightly with water if you’re painting for a long session to slow drying.
For tiny areas, a toothpick or fine liner brush can help hit small corners cleanly.
Use daylight or a neutral white lamp so colors look true.

I've had great luck with every custom kit from Paintly. The image generator and editing system is top tier, the canvases are great, and paints are very good quality! Shipping is not too bad, everything usually arrives in less than two weeks.
I was blown away by the quality of these kits, the canvas, the colors, the stones, down to the glue. I had so much fun working on this project, it took me only a few days to do and having it framed already, it will be easy to hang right away or give it as a gift.
I can’t believe how much more I am enjoying Diamond Art. I have been doing DA for years and these are the first kits that that top any I have done in the past. Stones are smooth and easy to pick up and the adhesive/glue that is used is incredible, so smooth, the stones glide on with little effort. This is my second kits and I will be ordering more in the near future.
This turned out so beautiful! I started working on it August 25, 2026 and finished it September 9, 2026. The drills didn't have much static and there weren't a lot of trash drills.
I have used other paint by numbers brands and the paint is so clumpy. I really liked the paint quality with this company and the fact that the canvas wasn’t creased. I already ordered two more. This was AI portrait I had made for my best friends nursery! She loved it:)
As a native of Maryland, I love the image. Quality drills and clear printing. However, I downgraded the item because of printing on three sides of frame (drill legend and stock number). This printing makes it not "ready to hang." I now need to take extra steps to cover the printing with either tape or paint. My suggestion is to put the stock numer on the back and the drill legend on a separate piece of paper.
I am part way through this and it has been amazing. The paints are so easy to use. No clumps, the picture is turning out great! The colours all look great. The best paint by numbers I have ever done
Making a good start. Nice a sticky but not sliding. Clear symbols. I requested a pdf of the ledgend so i could print off stickers to put on pots for kitting up and in came the next day. Great service.
I absolutely love Paintly! The numbers are very visible, even very congested areas. The paint is great and the colors are vibrant. This is my second one and I have already ordered two others to work on. A great past time and relaxation hobby. Looking forward to my next one already!
Absolutely amazing quality! I’m just missing a tiny bit by the eye because I lost one of the paints, but the company’s customer service was brilliant and sent me a replacement. I love this picture so much—the detail and colours are beautiful. I’ve tried other paint-by-number companies, but this is by far the best. I’ll be ordering six more ASAP!
I do love it. I went out and bought the paint extender, more brushes, an easel and found rinse, clean water containers in my cupboard and a perfect little table to sit beside my chair. I even set it up in a special place where I could always leave it up. I found a lamp so I could paint when the light may not be as bright. It’s time. I’m ready and then I let it set for quite a while. I was nervous and intimidated. There it sat in its space alone with the door closed. Finally after a week I would go in and just sit in my chair just looking at it. I watched many videos on YouTube for tips and techniques. After 3 or 4 days I popped my first pot open. I wet my brush and then I began. My hands shook. Painting, I observed my strokes, the texture and flow of the paint, the coverage because not only do I not have any paint or drawing experience but no other talents as well, unless you count persistence. I do have that. I discovered that besides not covering the canvas or not covering the lines and numbers well enough because I didn’t go back, there are no mistakes that can be made. My only wish is that the full size color sheet that comes with the canvas is very faint. I am prevailing and enjoying the process. I see so many other canvases I would like to order but I am controlling my obsession to get more right now. Drat. I am in bliss when I sneak away to grow my completed canvas with adding a few more spots. My husband will go looking for me and I will here him call out. Now he pops his head in to see if I am in there first. Hah! Who says old dogs can’t learn new tricks.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one (24 colours) and completed it in only 4 days (part time). Love the creamy paint that covers numbers with 1 coat. I'm a big fan of PBN's with little to no light colours, so this one was perfect for me. Have already ordered 2 more.
