This is the photo we turn into your paint by numbers kit.
Cover the table, set good lighting, keep water and a paper towel nearby. Lightly iron the canvas on low (no steam) or tape it flat to a board.
2
Organize paints & match numbers
Open one color at a time to prevent drying. If thick, add a drop of water and mix. Keep lids closed when not in use.
3
Start smart
Work from top-to-bottom (or left-to-right if right-handed) to avoid smudges. Many painters begin with the background or darker areas for easy progress.
4
Use the right brush for the area
Small brush for tiny cells; larger brush for big areas. Glide the tip—don’t press or splay bristles. Cover numbers fully; add a second coat after drying if needed.
5
Rinse & dry between colors
Swirl in water, wipe on a towel until clean, then paint the next color. A barely damp brush gives cleaner edges.
6
Let sections dry
Acrylic dries fast—about 10–20 minutes depending on thickness. Touch up gaps or streaks once dry.
7
Store in-progress work
Close paint pots firmly; wipe rims so they reseal. Keep paints upright and the canvas flat.
8
Finish & frame
After 24 hours, optionally seal with a clear acrylic varnish (matte or gloss). Then frame and enjoy!
Pro tips
If a paint is too thick, add a single drop of water and mix. If too thin, use two light coats.
Mist closed paint pots lightly with water if you’re painting for a long session to slow drying.
For tiny areas, a toothpick or fine liner brush can help hit small corners cleanly.
Use daylight or a neutral white lamp so colors look true.

I ordered a semi‑custom diamond painting from Paintly Kits, and I am over the moon with how it turned out. I took one of their original images and had them substitute the woman and the dog for my Dunkin — and they absolutely nailed it. The final canvas is a gorgeous 50 × 70 cm piece that feels personal, peaceful, and full of love.
The rendering quality was excellent, and the square drills were crisp, clean, and sparkly. I added my own touches with AB and stardust drills on Dunkin’s fur and collar, plus her hair and dress, and the canvas handled the enhancements beautifully. The colors are vibrant, the details are sharp, and the whole scene just glows. This is one of those kits that reminds you why you love diamond painting. Paintly Kits did an amazing job with the customization, and the final result is truly special.
This is my first paint by number and I couldn't be more pleased! I chose to have a custom made of my family, the details and the quality are great and I can't wait to hang it up when I'm done!!
I have just started this one. It is my first Paintly kit. The canvas is soft and the drills are beautiful. I can’t wait to finish and will update my review and photo if allowed.
I’m not done yet, but as usual, Paintly does not disappoint! The paint coverage, even the yellows & oranges, has been great!! This has been fun to get started on. This is my 10th painting ordered from Paintly & I can state with confidence, they are my “go-to” site for quality paint by numbers!
This colourful painting was exciting! I started at the top (to get the 'boring' part of the wall over with) but skipped her face (I wanted to save that for the end) and it was so much fun painting the blankets and the fruit and veggies. Even the white blouse is not white at all, of course.
She took me hours and hours and I loved the 'zen' and me-time.
I love the final result (even though the print example is so much smoother), and I cannot wait to get her framed and on my wall.
I spent quite a lot of time on this lovely lady with her gorgeous dress. The light colours are very transparent, so I did the wall behind her twice already and the numbers are still shining through 😞.
I did not blur the colours on purpose; i felt that it would be quite messy, as the colours used next to each other often are quite different, even in the pottery and the fabric of the gown.
The result is a bit 'streaky' (or 'artsy') compared to the print example you see online when buying it, but in this case I actually do not mind.
I think I will love her when she will finally be on my wall 😍.
Love it! After returning from Germany I purchased this because it depicted all the Highlights of Germany that we had just experienced. I love it so much I have now ordered 3 more, Australia, Ireland and St. Louis because these places are near and dear to my heart. Only negative is the time it takes from ordering until you receive them.
Just at the early stages but I’m very happy with the quality of the canvas and resin drills. I was initially missing one color but Paintly’s customer service got me replacements quickly. I would buy again from them.
I've done quite a few of these paint by numbers. This one was better than most. The paints were all slightly above average. My painting had 36 colors and all but maybe 3 or 4 were one coat coverage so thats nice. The only downsides were the brushes, but no matter what kit you buy the brushes are no good so just buy a few good ones. And last complaint which isn't huge but worth mentioning is I paid extra for a wooden frame, and it's the wrong size. I'd have to cut of a small but still significant portion of the painting to use the included frame. Other than that I was very happy with this purchase.
A pretty picture. However, the lines were so faint that even with a magnifying glass many of them were so faint I couldn’t see them. Also 48 colors on a 16x20 makes many of the numbers unreadable. I think animal scenes might not be my cup of tea.
Pictures great canvases great glue is good but I ran out of black 310 and I ran out of blue 823 so I had to order some from Amazon to get here the next day
I just started her yesterday. The paints are very creamy so painting should be easy. Plus the cells are huge. Love it compared to other one I’m doing with microscopic cells. She makes a good respite.
She is going beautifully. Nearly half way there. The paints are still superb, and what I failed to mention in my earlier comment is that I am tending to use the brushes which come with the kit. I have thousands of them, some free, some expensive. I’ve been painting for about 4 years and in that time I have only thrown about five brushes. Pretty impressive.
